New & Improved

Tags Security

A new system setting (tag.security.mode) defines the tag governance model.

  • In Open Mode (default), centralized administrators retain full control, consistent with previous behavior.

  • In Secure Mode, access is managed at the Master Tag level through role-based/user-based permissions, and Governance Roles (Owner, Steward, and Custodian) offering more granular governance. This mode can be enabled or disabled as needed.

  • Two separate LMDF (Load Metadata from Files) template versions are now available based on the selected Tag Security Mode (Open or Secure).

Master Tags

  • Master Tags Hierarchy: Master Tags are first-level tags that serve as domains or containers for regular tags. Through Master Tag Administration, designated personnel can create, delete, and assign permissions for Master Tags and control who can manage tags within each domain.

  • Master Tag Custom Fields Configuration: Configuration of custom fields (Text, Code, Number, Date) for Master Tags is now available only when the Tags security model is set to Secure Mode. Additionally, the custom field settings defined for a Master Tag are automatically cascaded to all tags within it, ensuring consistency.

Enhanced Tags Filter & Search Options

  • Advanced Filtering Options in Tags List View:

    • Single-value columns: Use ‘Equals’ to include and ‘Not Equals’ to exclude matching values.

    • Multi-value columns (e.g., custom fields): Use ‘Any of’ to match any selected values and ‘All of’ to match all selected values.

  • Tag Search with Single Character Input: In Tree View, Tags can now be searched using a single character. The same search behavior is available in the tag association pop-up within the Data Catalog Grid View.

Cascade Tags in Data Catalog

In Data Catalog objects (Databases/Tables/Files/Reports/APIs) Grid View, Tags can now be managed using the Nine Dots menu through the ‘Add Tags / Remove Tags’ options.

Add Tags with Cascade Support

  • When ‘Add Tags’ is selected, tags can now be cascaded to child hierarchies based on the object type:

    • Databases → Tags cascade to Tables and Table Columns

    • Tables → Tags cascade to Table Columns

    • Files → Tags cascade to File Columns

    • Reports → Tags cascade to Report Columns

    • APIs → Tags cascade to API Attributes

Remove Tags with Cascade Support

  • The Remove Tags option removes all the existing cascaded tags. When a tag is removed from a parent object, all previously cascaded tags are also removed from associated child objects (e.g., columns or attributes).
