Connector & Function Support

The Connector and Function Support provides a comprehensive overview of the data quality functions available across various connectors in OvalEdge. It helps users identify which object-level and attribute-level functions are supported by each connector, enabling effective data quality management.

Connector and Function Support is organized into two tabs: Summary and Data Quality Functions.

  • The Summary tab displays an aggregated view of the object-level and attribute-level functions supported by each connector.

  • The Data Quality Functions tab lists each available data quality function, along with its associated metadata, providing detailed insights into the function's applicability and configuration across all connectors.

Summary

The Connector & Function Support Summary View displays the availability of Data Quality (DQ) functions across each connector. This view helps users evaluate which connectors support specific system or custom functions at both object and attribute levels.

The summary view lists each connector with the following details:

  • Connector Name – Identifies the connector (e.g., Snowflake, MySQL, Box).

  • Connector Category – Specifies the type of data source, such as RDBMS or File.

  • Object Functions (System / Custom) – Indicates the count of object-level functions (applicable to tables or files).

  • System – The predefined functions provided by the OvalEdge.

  • Custom – User-defined functions configured for specific business requirements.

  • Attribute Functions (System / Custom) – Shows the number of attribute-level functions (applied to table or file columns).

  • System – Column-level functions are provided by default.

  • Custom – Functions defined by users to support customized rule logic.

  • Total Functions – Combines the object-level and attribute-level function counts (both system and custom).

Users can click any function count to view detailed metadata in the Data Quality Functions tab. The system applies filters based on the selected connector and function type. The detailed view includes the Function Name and Object Type (E.g., Table, File). Function Type (System or Custom) and Supported Data/File Types.

Data Quality Functions

The Data Quality Functions tab provides a detailed, filterable view of data quality functions supported across all connectors. This tab helps users identify available functions, their applicable object levels, supported connectors, and usage context.

The Data Quality Functions tab contains the following information:

  • Object Type – Specifies the level at which the function operates (e.g., Table, File, Table Column, and File Column).

  • Connector – Indicates the source system where the function can be applied (e.g., Snowflake, MySQL, Box).

  • Function – Lists the name of the data quality function (e.g., Null Check, Data Density Check, and Regex Match).

  • Function Creation Type – Identifies whether the function is:

  • System-defined – Provided by default within the platform

  • Custom-created – Defined by users for specialized use cases

  • Data/File Type – Specifies the applicable data types for attribute-level functions, such as String, Number, and Date.

Users can apply filters to quickly locate functions based on connector, object type, connector category, function name, function creation type, and data or file type.
