Data Classification Reports

In OvalEdge, the Data Classification Reports serve as a centralized hub for viewing both classified and unclassified data objects. Users can select a specific domain and view the classifications defined within that domain. The report then displays a list of data objects associated with the domain’s terms and their corresponding classifications.

Note: Classified data objects have terms linked to them, whereas unclassified data objects do not have any associated terms.

Filter by Domain

Classifications are defined at the domain level. When users navigate to the Data Classification Reports, they can filter and view data objects associated with terms from a specific domain. This functionality allows users to focus on data objects classified under a particular domain, including its categories and subcategories.

Filter by Classification

Users can use the Data Classification Reports to filter data objects based on their assigned classifications.

For example, within the Customer domain, terms such as Customer Name and Customer SSN Number are linked to specific data objects (e.g., tables, files). These terms inherit classifications such as Public, Private, or Sensitive from the domain level.

When users select the Customer domain and apply the Sensitive classification filter, the Data Classification Reports display all data objects categorized as Sensitive within that domain. This feature enables users to easily locate and review sensitive customer data.

Unclassified Data Objects

The Data Classification Reports also include a section for unclassified data objects—those that do not have any associated terms in the system. This section helps users identify and manage data objects that lack classification. Users can leverage AI models to suggest appropriate terms for unclassified data objects automatically.
