OvalEdge provides a suite of advanced tools that allow default admins and Producers (Authors) to manage, update, and analyze data objects efficiently. These tools support bulk metadata updates, source change tracking, schema comparison, profiling comparison, and file uploads.

Bulk Actions through Load Metadata from Files

Load Metadata from Files allows OE-ADMIN and Meta-Write privileges to upload and update metadata in bulk to the application using the Excel templates.

Default Admins can access Load Metadata from Files by navigating to Advanced Tools from the left panel.

Data & Metadata Changes

The Data & Metadata Changes feature allows Producers (Authors) to monitor and track alterations to data and metadata made at the remote data source, ensuring a complete understanding of the evolving data landscape.

Changes in the source system are logged or listed in dedicated sections for data and metadata. This allows efficient tracking and analyzing transformations, identifying trends, and enforcing data governance policies.

Compare Schema

Compare Schema helps to see changes in metadata for a specific schema. The system checks the columns in the chosen schema over a set time and shows the comparison results. The comparison results show the status of columns, like Added, Modified, and Deleted. The statistics for these changes in the column change summary are visible.

Compare Profile

Compare Profile helps to understand and analyze statistical data in a table by comparing two profiling results. The comparison shows details like row count, popularity, importance score, null count, distinct count, minimum value, and top values.

Upload File or Folder

Uploading a File or Folder allows transferring files or folders from a local device to OvalEdge via a Network File System (NFS) connection. After uploading, files or folders can be cataloged.
