Quick and efficient access to relevant information is essential in today's data-driven world. Traditional search methods can be time-consuming and may not deliver the desired results consistently. To solve this, we introduce askEdgi, an AI-powered chat interface that offers an easy and efficient way to search and retrieve information within the application.

What is askEdgi?

askEdgi is a Conversational AI that helps users quickly search for term details, metadata, and project information within the application, improving the user experience and reducing search time. It offers predefined options like "Get Term Details," "Get Project Details," and "Get Table Details," etc. When a user selects one of these, a list of prompt suggestions appears. Users can choose a prompt, edit it with their specific information, and click Enter. askEdgi then shows the results.

Users can also help create a service request by selecting the "Create a Service Request" option. This option shows prompt suggestions related to service requests. The user can use the prompt, and a link appears; clicking it takes the user to the Service Desk page.

Prerequisite

OpenAI (ChatGPT) API Key

To use askEdgi, the user must map the OpenAI (ChatGPT) API key to the application. To do this, go to Administration > System Settings > AI > open.activation.token.

What is an OpenAI API Key?

An OpenAI (ChatGPT) API key is a unique identifier that authenticates and authorizes access to OpenAI's services. When users sign up for OpenAI's API, they receive an API key, which they can use to make requests. This key ensures that only authorized users can access the services.

API Key and Credits in the Form of Tokens

When users use OpenAI's API, the computation cost is measured in tokens. Each API key is linked to an account that has a certain amount of credits or quota, often granted in token form.

  • Credits: When users sign up for OpenAI's services, they may receive a certain number of free credits (tokens) that they can use to explore and experiment with the API.

  • Billing: As users use the API, tokens are consumed, and the cost is deducted from their available credits. If they exceed the free credits, they are billed based on the additional tokens consumed. Different models (like GPT-3 or GPT-4) may have different token costs.
