Expanded Support for Hyphens and Underscores in Object Names

Several areas of the OvalEdge application platform restricted the use of special characters in object names, including Business Glossary, Data Catalog, Tags, and Data Products. As a result, names containing common formats such as "Prefix - Term Name" or values with underscores (_) could trigger validation errors, requiring users to modify naming conventions during creation, updates, API operations, or bulk uploads.

With this enhancement, hyphens (-) and underscores (_) are now supported across applicable object names (Business Glossary, Data Catalog, Tags, and Data Products). Users can create and manage objects using familiar naming formats without validation errors. Validation rules have also been updated to display a clear message listing only the characters that are not allowed, based on the current system configuration.

Fixed

In Global Search, tag values such as Customers could appear as separate filter headers in the left filter panel instead of being displayed under the Tag filter. This made the filter panel appear inconsistent and made it more difficult to identify tag-based filters.

The Global Search filter panel has been enhanced to organize tag values under the Tag filter. This improvement provides a more consistent filter structure, simplifies tag-based navigation, and makes it easier for users to locate and apply tag filters when refining search results.

Resolved Governance Role Filters Displayed Despite Configuration Settings

In Global Search, governance role filters such as Owner, Steward, and Custodian continued to appear in the left filter panel even when the search.es.governancerole.filters.optional system setting was configured as Empty. This behavior prevented administrators from hiding governance role filters as intended and resulted in inconsistent filter behavior.

The filter display logic has been corrected to follow the configured system setting. Governance role filters are now hidden when the search.es.governancerole.filters.optional setting is set to Empty, ensuring that only the configured filters appear in Global Search results.

Browser Extension

New & Improved

Enhanced Issue Reporting Experience

The Browser Extension has been enhanced to simplify issue reporting and improve the overall reporting experience. The Report action has been renamed to Report Issue to clearly distinguish it from Data Catalog reports and provide better navigation clarity.

When reporting an issue, the Browser Extension now automatically captures the active browser URL, eliminating the need to provide source page details manually. Users can also attach up to three image files (JPEG, JPG, or PNG), each with a maximum size of 5 MB, to provide additional context and help teams investigate and resolve issues more efficiently.

Additionally, menu labels have been updated to provide a clearer and more intuitive experience for both registered and guest users.
