The table supports the following options to help locate and analyze information efficiently:

* Sort – Sorts records in ascending or descending order.
* Search – Finds specific attributes or values within the table.
* Filter – Displays records that match selected criteria.

### **Data Preview**

Users can preview the data associated with an attribute without leaving the page.

* Hover over an attribute and click View to open the Data Preview window.
* The preview displays sample records and available column values for the selected object.
* Sensitive information is displayed according to the configured security settings.

**The Data Preview helps users:**

* Verify data structure and completeness.
* Inspect object content without opening the full details page.

**Note:** Data editing is not supported from the Data Preview window.

### **Navigating to Attribute Details**

Users can access detailed attribute information using the following options:

* **Open in New Tab** – Hover over an attribute and click Open in New Tab to view details in a separate browser tab.
* **Same Tab Navigation** – Click the attribute hyperlink to open the Attribute Summary page in the current tab.

### **Downloading Attribute Information**

## Recording Attribute Changes

![](/files/zHZjY12XXaJ3NYR9A2SP)

This part keeps **track of changes to attributes**, like how many rows are there, how many are empty, the top values, and how many are different. It helps to notice and respond to changes in the reference data. In the Reference Data Unit (RDU), there's a table in the **Attribute Change** tab showing the history of attributes. This table records the first and last values for significant attribute changes, ensuring we always have information about data changes. Monitoring changes like row count, empty count, top values, and different counts helps spot changes in data features and behavior. This detailed tracking keeps data quality high and helps manage data effectively, like a history book for data.

### Quick Navigation

The columns can be viewed and downloaded by applying sort, search, and filter options.

* Sort - It helps in sorting from A→Z & Z→A
* Search - It helps to locate specific information quickly&#x20;
* Filter - It helps populate search results by specific criteria

### Download Attribute Changes

Download changed attribute lists for reference data units to access and analyze. These exports attribute information into a CSV file, providing an organized dataset for further use.

## References

Reference Data Units often define the valid business values used across the organization. These values are frequently referenced by Business Glossary terms to provide additional business context and support data governance initiatives.

Reference Data Units can be associated with Business Glossary terms, creating a direct relationship between Reference Data Management and Business Glossary. This relationship helps users understand how reference data supports business definitions, governance processes, and data quality requirements.

<div align="left"><img src="/files/AP8PREWV32yI0CRXXNi8" alt=""></div>

**Example:** A Business Glossary term named **Sales Order Status** defines the business meaning of each stage in the sales order lifecycle. The associated Reference Data Unit contains the **approved status** values used across sales and order management systems, such as:

* New
* Pending Approval
* Confirmed
* Shipped
* Delivered
* Cancelled

By linking the Sales Order Status glossary term to the Reference Data Unit, users can view both the business definition and the valid status values from a single location.&#x20;

### Viewing Related Business Glossary Terms

The References section displays the Business Glossary terms associated with the selected Reference Data Unit.

**Users can:**

* View all linked Business Glossary terms.
* Search and filter associated glossary terms.
* Navigate directly to the Business Glossary Summary page to review business definitions and related information.

## History

Learn about tracking and reviewing changes to metadata in RDUs, such as titles, descriptions, and stewardship. The History tab records all metadata changes, ensuring Users can monitor every change in the reference data unit.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.ovaledge.com/release8.2/governance-catalog/reference-data-management/manage-attributes.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
