# Scheme Rules

The Scheme Rules view provides a centralized interface for users to manage all rules associated with a Data Quality Scheme. It allows stewards and administrators to ensure that the scheme reflects current data quality requirements.

**Rule List View**

The main grid displays all scheme rules, along with their configurations and the latest execution details.

<table><thead><tr><th width="186">Field</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Scheme Rule Name</td><td>Displays the name of the rule. Selecting the rule opens detailed rule configuration pages.</td></tr><tr><td>Purpose</td><td>Displays the business or technical reason for creating the rule.</td></tr><tr><td>Status</td><td>Displays whether the rule is in Draft, Active, or Inactive state. Only Active rules are eligible for execution.</td></tr><tr><td>Object Type</td><td>Displays the object type validated by the rule, such as Table, Table Column, File, or File Column.</td></tr><tr><td>Database</td><td>Displays the source database for table-based rules.</td></tr><tr><td>Schema</td><td>Displays the schema name for table-based rules.</td></tr><tr><td>Table</td><td>Displays the table name for table-based rules.</td></tr><tr><td>Column</td><td>Displays the column name when the rule applies to a specific column.</td></tr><tr><td>File System</td><td>Displays the source file system for file-based rules.</td></tr><tr><td>File</td><td>Displays the file name for file-based rules.</td></tr><tr><td>Function</td><td>Displays the selected validation function used by the rule.</td></tr><tr><td>Dimension</td><td>Displays the data quality category such as Completeness, Accuracy, Validity, or Uniqueness.</td></tr><tr><td>Last Result</td><td>Displays the most recent execution result such as Passed, Failed, Execution Failed, or Undetermined.</td></tr><tr><td>Last Run By</td><td>Displays the user who last executed the rule.</td></tr><tr><td>Last Run On</td><td>Displays the timestamp of the latest rule execution.</td></tr></tbody></table>

Users can search, filter, sort, configure visible columns, and export the current view. Additionally, authorized users can create new scheme rules, edit existing rules, or delete rules when no longer required. Rule definitions can include the rule name, purpose, function, dimension, input conditions, success criteria, and associated objects. Users can also review recent execution outcomes to monitor rule performance and identify rules that require updates.

* **Details:** Displays the main configuration information for the selected Scheme Rule. Users can review the rule setup, target object details, selected function, assigned dimension, success criteria, reference columns, and other supporting settings used during rule execution. This section helps users understand how the rule is configured and what it validates.
* **Advanced Settings:** Provides additional execution controls for the Scheme Rule. Users can define filter conditions, apply custom clauses, and configure incremental data filtering to run checks only on newly added or updated records since the last execution.
* **Scheme Rule Details:** Displays the main information of the rule, such as the Scheme Rule Name and Purpose. This section helps users understand the rule's identity and the business reason for creating it.
* **Target Object Details:** Displays the data object where the rule is applied. It includes details such as Database, Schema, Table, and Column for table-based rules, or equivalent file details for file-based rules.
* **Function:** Displays the selected validation function used by the rule, along with the assigned data quality dimension and success criteria. It defines how the data is evaluated and what condition must be met for the rule to pass.
* **Additional Associations:** Displays any extra objects or columns associated with the rule for extended validation logic, comparisons, or related checks where applicable.
* **Reference Columns:** Displays columns assigned as Primary Columns or Additional Columns for the rule. These columns are used as inputs for functions that require one or more reference values during validation.
* **Other Details:** Displays supporting rule settings such as Max Failed Values Limit and Violation Message. These settings help control how failures are handled and provide meaningful messages when validation issues are detected.

### Schema View&#x20;

<table><thead><tr><th width="188.66668701171875">Field</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Scheme Rule Name</td><td>Enter a clear and meaningful rule name.</td></tr><tr><td>Purpose</td><td>Describe what issue the rule checks and why it is required.</td></tr><tr><td>Function</td><td>Select the function, such as Average, Date Validation, Email Format Check, etc., used to evaluate data.</td></tr><tr><td>Dimension</td><td>Select the dimension, such as Accuracy, Validity, Uniqueness, etc., associated with the function.</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Scheme Rules Actions (9 Dots Menu)

The 9 dots actions menu provides quick management options for selected Scheme Rules. These actions help users maintain rule configuration, object mappings, and rule status without opening each rule individually.

**Regenerate Object Queries**

Regenerate Object Queries refreshes and rebuilds the system-generated queries for the selected Scheme Rules, based on the current rule configuration and associated objects. This action is useful after updating rule logic, changing object associations, or modifying metadata, to ensure executions use the latest query definitions.

**Delete Scheme Rules**

Delete Scheme Rules removes the selected rules from the Data Quality Scheme after confirmation. Deleted rules no longer participate in scheme execution. Users should review dependencies before deletion, especially for rules used in scheduled or monitored schemes.

**Change Status**

Change Status allows users to update the selected Scheme Rules to Draft, Active, or Inactive status. Active rules are included in scheme execution, Draft rules remain under configuration, and Inactive rules are excluded from execution until re-enabled. This helps users quickly control rule readiness and operational participation.
