Impacted Areas of Virtual Objects
Tags - Tags are assigned to Virtual Objects, making these tagged objects visible on the Tags Summary page.
Data Catalog—The data catalog allows viewing of ‘virtual objects' lineage and entity relationships (only for tables).
Business Glossary - Virtual Objects can be associated with Business Glossary terms.
Data Stories - Virtual Objects can be referenced in Data Stories using the '@' symbol to access tables or reports.
Projects - To assign a Virtual Object to Projects, navigate to Data Catalog > Tables / Reports, select an instance, click on the 9 dots, and choose the Add to Default project option from the list.
To add a virtual object to a project, click the Add to Project button at the top right corner.
Service Desk - For service desk requests related to virtual objects or metadata changes, go to Data Catalog > Tables / Files/Reports/APIs, select the desired Virtual Table / Virtual File / Virtual Report / Virtual APIs, and click the nine-dot option. From there, choose the 'Service Desk' option.
Data Classification - Users with Meta Write permission can classify Virtual Objects into different levels or groups based on attributes like sensitivity, importance, or purpose. This classification ranges from highly sensitive or confidential to public or non-sensitive data.
My Watchlist - Include Virtual Tables, Files, Reports and APIs in your watchlist by clicking on the nine dots and selecting the 'Add to My Watchlist' option from the menu.
These added Virtual Objects will appear in My Watchlist.
Custom Fields - Admins can introduce custom fields in the selected Virtual object section, specifying the necessary connector. When defining a text field, they can designate it as either editable or viewable. The Data Catalog > Updated Virtual Object Summary page will reflect these custom fields.
Certification - Authors with Meta Write permission can certify the Virtual Tables, Table Columns, Files, File Columns, Reports, Report Columns, APIs, and API Attributes. The certification icon is shown at the top right corner of the Virtual Object Summary page.
Ratings- Establish credibility and trust by assigning ratings to the Virtual Object and post a comment.
Conversations - Conversations feature allows communication with teams or individuals with Author or Viewer licenses. Enables asking questions or posting comments.
